“The locker room was always a nightmare, the athletic kids at my school hated me, the coaches at my school hated me. I avoided sports out of terror, not disinterest.”

This quote is from a respondent from the Trevor Project’s 2020 national survey on youth mental health, which found LGBTQ+ youth play team sports far less than the general population, citing fears of bullying and/or discrimination as the reason.

Imagine being LGBTQ+ and finally getting to participate in sporting events you always dreamt of when you were younger, but thought had passed you by?

Imagine being able to cheer competitively with a team of affirming, LGBTQ+ people living their authentic lives just like you?

Imagine participating in a real volleyball competition?

As part of the KindRED Pride Foundation, the Pride Cup is a multi-sport LGTBQ+ competition held each year during the first weekend in June in Orlando, Florida during Gay Disney.

With events welcoming all levels of athletes, the spirit of the competition is “Be Kind Champion” to coincide with the RED Shirt Pride Days.
